COLLEGE STUDENT OUTLINE
PARAGRAPH If the high school grad goes onto college we still need to keep costs of college down. Tuition rate increases each year imo are way to high even if people overestimate the cost of going to college. Some ways we can cut college costs down if is if you work at the college doing something the college can match your salary for stuff like books, tuition, fees, etc.. If we continue off from my high school level 2 graduate he or she will only need to go like 2 more years to get a 4-year degree. One way created to lower the cost of education was with a pre-paid tuition plan. I like the idea. Some states issue these plans so you can put money into an account to pay for college in that same state you put money in. These plans are becoming harder and harder to find becuase of budget problems which stinks. If you are a sports star special things will occur. I will allow an 8 credit hour minimum to stay on the team excluding final semester. This will make it easier for the student athlete to grow and gain expirence while staying in school. I will not change 4 year eligability status rules at all. One easy way to cut the costs of a college textbook is to just offer the book in pieces. I mean if a book has a study guide sell that as a separate piece, if a book has a CD-Rom or DVD sell that as a separate thing. If the teacher does not think you should buy this stuff then you do not need to buy the whole package all at once. It may not amount to much, but every bit counts in lowering the cost for the student. College Debt One idea I have here in order to deal with the massive amount of college loan debt we are racking up is to cap the amount of interest we can collect on the loans. I say like no more than 15 grand of interest and then no more interest can be collected on the debt. That way we have a shot of paying it down. For Seniors it could be no more than a max of 7500 bucks. Another idea would be to dramatically cut the time to pay down the debt before the federal government comes in and pays off the rest. Like 5 years for public jobs, and 10 years for private. Q&A NA. SOURCES Teaching For America. News Night With Arron Brown. CNN January 1, 2003 Bombardieri, Marcella" Cost of college piling
